None of the dolls put out past 2001 have been cloned. So, yes, actually, it does explain the cloned Kit dolls.. she is not recent.. she is older than Lindsey.

If they are still being produced, why have we not seen some of the more popular, recent dolls cloned? Dolls such as Kailey as well as Nellie and other more recent dolls?

As well, if they are still in production, why do we not see these clone dolls much more frequently than we currently do and in much better condition than they are when we DO see them? i.e. we would most likely be seeing them in their packaging still and we do not, and never have for that matter.

Of course products manufactured in China for the American market are always kocked off... we see that with high end haute couture all the time, but that has nothing to do with WHEN these clone dolls (like the ones that your cousin Ria and I and many others have) were put out on the black market.

You mentioned two very good points, though.
